Tourist Attractions in London

London is an amazing city and a place that everyone must visit at least once in their lifetime. London boasts a huge multicultural mix of cultures and traditions which live side by side in harmony, whether this be the South Asian, West Indian or Chinese communities in Green Street or Southall, Chinatown or even in Brixton, London also has its traditional attractions that everyone must see.

Regardless of whether you are young or old, are a history buff or just prefer to enjoy the nightlife, London has tastes to suit all needs.

If you take pleasure in history, then London has beautiful buildings and iconic landmarks that are renowned worldwide. Sites such as Tower Bridge and the Tower of London are definitely worth visiting as they have breathtaking views of the river Thames. Just a few minutes up the road lies St. Paul’s cathedral which forms part of the London skyline and was designed by Sir Christopher Wren in 1668. Heading west you are not far form Embankment where the London Eye can be seen in full view. If you’re travelling at night then even better as it lights up and you will see it in its full glory. Just a mile or so are the Houses of Parliament located opposite Westminster underground station, they look incredible when you see them for real and are quite overwhelming, much different to how you see them on the television. The superb architecture and the sheer size are worth taking pictures for, not to forget the famous clock Big Ben.

If you want to marvel London’s entertainment and nightlife then you will certainly not be disappointed. The city caters for all types of cuisines and taste buds. If you are visiting for the first time then head straight into London’s famous West End. You most probably want to start at Piccadilly Circus or Leicester Square which houses many theatres, museums and galleries. If its nightlife you are after then you will find it all here. Leicester Square is home to many popular nightclubs that cater for all musical preferences and is in close proximity to Soho and Chinatown which are only a walk away. This tourist hotspot also hosts UK premiers of Hollywood and Bollywood feature films.

The most convenient way to travel is by using the Underground or as it is locally known, ‘the tube’. Simply purchase a travel card or a prepaid ‘Oyster’ card and travel wherever your card allows you to. Don’t forget to grab a map of London as well as the tube and away you go.
