The REF and VAR made a HUGE error In fact it's unbelievable they don't know the basic laws of the game The rules regarding the keeper having control of the ball if they have one hand on It and the ball is grounded do NOT apply AFTER the keeper has just made a save or the ball has rebounded off them It says so clearly in the 2nd paragraph of Rule 12 Paragraph 1 defines having the ball under control then paragraph 2 gives the exception to the definition as follows
A keeper is also considered to be in control of the ball 'by touching it with any part of the hands or arms EXCEPT if the ball rebounds from the goalkeeper or the goalkeeper has made a save’
Notice "except if the ball rebounds from the keeper or the keeper has mad a save " That's exactly what had just happened, the ball came out to Ramsey AFTER Schmeiichel had made a save and the ball had rebounded off his hand so he was not in control of it even if he had a hand on it and it and the ball was grounded according to the actual law He realises this of course so after Ramsey scores tries to cheat and pretends his hand has been Injured
What is staggering though is that the Ref even looked at in on VAR and obviously didn't know the laws of the game! He was only concerned with replaying over and over to see if Schmeichels hand was on the ball when it was kicked by Ramsey but completely seemed unaware or not bothered by the 2nd paragraph of law 12 under which it was clearly a goal and Scmeichels hand being on the ball was irrelevant Knowing this It should'n't even have gone to VAR, , there was no issue , it was a clear goal as the keeper had just parried '(saved) the header so the REF should have known paragrapgh 2 of law 12 and just given the goal
Funny thing is that the BBC and other news sites after were also making the same mistake, just quoting HALF of law 12 BUT FOR SOME REASON not bothering to read paragraph 2 or quote where it was plain as daylight that it was a valid goal as the keeper had just made a save or the ball had rebounded off him I read the whole Law through once and straight away said, hold on, that's a clear legitimate goal, paragragh 2 makes it clear Why are these people not reading the WHOLE law?
