He had to look no further than his team who made a complete mess of a fixture against an out-of-form Leicester side with nine players injured.

This was a devastating blow to Liverpool’s title hopes. At their halfway point of the season, they trail Manchester City by six points although the gap could increase to nine tonight if the champions win at Brentford.

When Mo Salah misses three gilt-edged chances inside the space of a few seconds – including a penalty – you know you’re in trouble.

Salah’s surprise failure to increase his tally of 22 goals was only half the story for Liverpool who, nine days after the 2-2 draw with Spurs, gave City another title boost with a lethargic, disjointed performance.

To make matters worse for Liverpool, it was an ex Evertonian who scored. Ademola Lookman struck what proved to be the winner three minutes after coming on as a substitute.

At the end of the season, if Liverpool just miss out, they will look back on this game as a chance missed as Leicester were properly there for the taking.

Suddenly Leicester was superb all because they got away with a lucky win defending all through the game playing a team not really at it on the night. Joke of a media. If Liverpool had taken all their clear chances these bunch would say otherwise. Jokers!

Not than I want to see injuries to any team but city get a free pass with injury to best players coz teams don't go hard at them look at leister today then look at them v villa loss an city ok they hit villa harder but I can't get my head round it now if managers say get stuck into city from the get go hit em rough em up an they wouldn't be top

Why has no one highlighted the stupidity of 2020 Football Writer's Player Of The Year, Henderson, in the build-up to the goal? He was giving orders but standing there as a spectator and then casually jogging back.

  4. Fak'syn Fak'syn

Salah worst + ,mané worst, jota worst, Alexandre Arnold worst, worst game of Liverpool, the management by changing players worst,so klopp worst. Now congratulations for Man city premier league title 2021-2022.

  5. Mohamed Abdelkader

Liverpool is unconvincing this season very up and down we will be very lucky if we end up top four.We do have very clear weakness when Trent step up forward that causes any team can hit back our right back to score, at the midfield Klopp is too experimental and there are too much changes ,that makes it easy to break .If Klopp inject the team with three or four of our under 21 players that will be better .

  6. Joe

This Liverpool team are really overrated. I expect Chelsea to dismantle them at the bridge and put back some hopes in our title charge

  7. Philemon Karoney

It is clear now liverpool is off the title imagine handling a team fresh from mancity with 5 rested days while leicester had only 2 days to rest from the big match i guess will be beaten by chelsea again on 2nd

  8. Onochie Osaji

Don't kid yourselves, it was more of LFC being off it than it was of Leicester being fantastic. This game could easily have eluded them in the first half. Fair play to them for getting the goal. Bad day in the office for LFC, they push on.

  9. Mark Thuo

Whoever thinks that the title race is not over at this point is clearly delusional. City is not a team that slips up when they are at the top. 6 point diference and still hoping to catch City? Come on now.
