Chelsea sit in third place on 70 points, 20 points behind first-placed Manchester City. Fifth-placed Arsenal, the first club outside of the Champions League positions, are four points behind the Blues. Chelsea won their last Premier League match 3-0 at Elland Road against Leeds United, snapping a three-match winless streak (W0 D2 L1).
Leicester City’s last league match saw them triumph 5-1 over Watford at Vicarage Road, leaving them in ninth place on 48 points. The Foxes have scored 57 goals and conceded 57 through 36 matches.
The previous Premier League fixture between the teams saw Chelsea emerge victorious 3-0 at King Power Stadium in November. Antonio Rüdiger opened the scoring for the Blues in the 14th minute. N’Golo Kanté and Christian Pulisic also were on target.
Mason Mount and Romelu Lukaku have caught the eye for Chelsea this season. Mount is the club’s leading scorer with 11 goals, four of those having been the critical first of the match. Nearly as impressive, Lukaku has netted eight times, including four match-openers.
Jamie Vardy has been the leading attacking threat for Leicester, scoring on 14 occasions.
