HIGHLIGHTS | Leicester City vs Arsenal (0-5) | WSL | Mead, Miedema, Heath

We secured a fourth consecutive victory in the Barclays FA Women’s Super League on Sunday as we defeated Leicester City 5-0 at the King Power Stadium.

Thursday’s exit from the UEFA Women’s Champions League was a tough one to take for Jonas Eidevall’s side – but this game was the perfect chance to get back to winning ways ahead of the international break.

Coming into this game off the back of a 9-0 defeat last weekend, Leicester City were lacking in confidence and made the worst possible start, as we opened the scoring inside just two minutes.

Caitlin Foord skipped past her marker with some fine footwork and crossed into the penalty area for Beth Mead, who found the back of the net with a stunning volley on her 150th Arsenal appearance.

Vivianne Miedema then came close with two fine efforts, only to be denied by Demi Lambourne, before seeing her low drive bounce back off the post.

That concluded the first-half action from a dominant performance, and we were made to wait until the 67th minute for our second of the afternoon.

Following some slick combination play on the edge of the area, Mead was dispossessed and Miedema was well-placed to pounce on the loose ball and fire into an open goal.

Miedema doubled her tally shortly after too, this time providing the finishing touch to a sweeping counter-attack teed up by substitute Nikita Parris.

Ashleigh Plumptre then went on to make it four, inadvertently bundling the ball into her own, before Parris provided her second assist, picking out Tobin Heath to finish at the back post and round off an enjoyable afternoon.
